On this day I find myself traveling up to northern California. I am vistiting family and friends for the holidays. I feeling quite sentimental as I often do. The older I get the more I realize and appreciate the value of family and friends. I am lucky. I have a great family. Very few true tragedys have befallen us. We are all alive, healthy, unincarcerated and relatively happy. Of course life is not perfect but all in all my 4 siblings and I are very close. I can remember a proclamation I made at our family dinner when I was probably 12 years old. I said to all – When we are grown lets not be one of those families that doesn’t talk to or see each other. And we for the most part have done this. Technology has helped a great deal- cell phones email even text messages are tools we have utilized. I am also lucky to have an awesome set of friends that have been in my life since childhood. Indeed they are more like family than friends. The greatest thing about the my family and friends is the unwritten rule that no matter the distance or the time that passed. We can always reach out to each other.
This wisdom of today is this No amount of money can buy the love of family and true friends. Family and friends are true blessings which only a fool will not cherish and cultivate.
